Secretaria de Transportes - Governo Do Rio de Janeiro

Define the transport policy of the State, aligning their initiatives for development programs of the Government.

Promote the implementation, expansion, improvement and integration of transport infrastructure.

Conduct studies, research and planning of the transport system of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in order to provide the user with the adoption of ways of transport more socially and economically appropriate.

Encourage the enhancement of institutional mechanisms, aiming at the implementation of an integrated transport master plan for the metropolitan area, which governs public investments in transportation and display solutions for harmonious integration of its modalities, in view of the essential link between the systems transport-level state and local ones.

Explore and manage airports, aerodromes and heliports in the State, through delegation, or authorization granted by the Ministry of Aeronautics.

Consider and decide on matters concerning policy, planning, coordination and integration of transport systems in the State of Rio de Janeiro, through the auxiliary body collegiate - State Board of Transportation.

Control, supervise and evaluate the performance of indirect administration entities linked to it.

Negotiate and sign agreements, agreements, contracts and adjustments, and other instruments of interest to the transportation sector of the state, with any persons public or private.

Properly operate transport services and terminals, and that would include the road passenger transport, the subway, railways and waterways, and also ensure the quality, safety and efficiency of these services when granted, depending on any kind of law is permitted to private .

MetrôRio

The subway system of Rio has two lines with 35 stations, and a fleet of 32 trains. When it was inaugurated in 1979, the subway carried 60,000 passengers per day. Currently, the system, which is integrated with the railroad and bus lines, consists of 16 km for Line 1 and 30.1 km for Lines 2, providing daily transportation for over 650,000 people.

In control of operations and maintenance for lines 1 and 2 since 1997, just ten years later MetrôRio acquired the rights to invest in expanding and improving the network and purchasing new trains. Still, since it began operating the subway MetrôRio has carried out special operations on important holidays that change the city’s routine, such as New Year’s Day and Carnival. Subway service on Sundays is another convenience the population began to enjoy after the subway was privatized.

ALAF - Latin American Railway Association

ALAF Latin American Railways Association, is a non-government organization (NGO) that has been recognized by the United Nation. It was founded in 1964 and the headquarters are located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  ALAF's goal is to promote a more efficient, safer and still cheaper railways  transportation.
ALAF's endorses and strengthens Latin American integration axis, through the exchange of flows, in order to achieve the economic and social integration, which could lead to benefit the Latin American people. The organization is constituted by most of the railway and related industrial companies in Latin American. Therefore, it is the representative of the region within the UIC, International Union of Railways.

Metrovias

ALAMYS - Asociación Latinoamericana de Metros y Subterráneos

The Latin American Association of Metros and Undergrounds, ALAMYS, is constituted of official way in 1987, with the purpose of to establish a joint frame of work and interchange of experiences for the operators and authorities of urban transport by railroad of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.

At the moment, ALAMYS constitutes one of the main organisms of representation at international level within the sector of the urban transport by railroad, offering point of view and defending the interests of the Latin American networks

 

AEAMESP – Associação dos Engenheiros e Arquitetos de Metrô

Created in 1990, the Association of Metro Architects and Engineers (AEAMESP in its Portuguese acronym) is a professional organization that represents architects, engineers and other professionals working within the metro industry. The AEAMESP strives to promote and progress metro technologies in Brazil and abroad and to help their members reach the highest professional standards. It also aims to develop proactive actions to push the consolidation and the expansion of metros and commuter railways networks.

ABIFER

ABIFER, the Brazilian Railway Industry Association, has the mission of helping develop Brazil’s rail industry, encouraing the expansion of both passenger and freight railway transport and constantly assisting companies in this sector and their customers. 

IAF - Instituto Argentino de Ferrocarriles

The Argentine Railways Institute (IAF) is a professional organisation and pressure group that promotes rail transport. It undertakes research and planning projects and offers advice on the construction, development and operation of rail projects. The Institute also strives to raise the profile of the railway industry and to encourage the use of tourist trains. In addition, the IAF is an operator in Argentina through its partners the Consorcio Ferrocarril Unión Pacífico and the Consorcio Ferrocarril Deseado. The magazine REDES DE INTEGRACIÓN (Integration Networks) is the new IAF’s leading publication and is distributed internationally.

AMF Asociacion Mexicana de Ferrocarriles

The Mexican Railways Association (AMF in its Spanish acronym) was created in 2004, after the privatisation of Ferrocarriles Nacionales, the former public company in charge of the national rail network. The Association   aims to represent its members, promoting their interests nationally and internationally. The AMF works closely with public and private organisations to solve the problems that affect the rail industry and promotes freight and passenger rail transport.

Trenes de Buenos Aires S.A

Trenes de Buenos Aires S.A (TBA), is from 1995, the concessionaire of the services of the metropolitan public transport of passengers in the Mitre and Sarmiento lines. The network that the company operates is composed by a hundred of stations, distributed in three electric and four diesel branches. With an extension of 400 kilometres in railways, crosses the Federal Capital and covers the north and west zones from the industrial centre of Buenos Aires, constituting the main subsystem in the metropolitan railway network.

Ferrocarril Union Pacifico

FCUP, Ferrocarril Unión Pacífico, is a consortium comprised of the Instituto Argentino de Ferrocarriles (Argentinean Railways Institute) and seven municipalities from four provinces in Argentina. It has the objective of putting back in use a railway connection linking the Atlantic with the Andes. This involve renovating a number of rail lines built in the late 19th century and the beginning of 20th century that had been progressively decommissioned in the last three decades. Once they have been renovated, these lines will became part of the “Bioceanic South Corridor”, which will be an essential element of the transport network in Argentina, the South Cone at large and the Mercosur.

Instituto Ferroviario Chileno is a study centre established in April of 2007 in the city of Santiago de Chile. ANTF - Associação Nacional dos Transportadores Ferroviários

The National Association of Rail Carriers (Associação Nacional dos Transportadores Ferroviários) is an entity that aims to defend and developrail freight in Brazil.
It brings together 10 dealers: ALL – América Latina Logística Malha Norte S.A.; ALLAmérica Latina Logística Malha Oeste S.A.; ALLAmérica Latina Logística Malha Paulista S.A.; ALL – América Latina Logística Malha Sul S.A.; Ferrovia Centro-Atlântica S.A. – FCA; Ferrovia Norte Sul S.A. – FNS (Tramo Norte); Ferrovia Tereza Cristina S.A. – FTC; MRS Logística S.A.; Transnordestina Logística S.A.; Vale S.A. (Estrada de Ferro Carajás e Estrada de Ferro Vitória a Minas). Created from the privatization of the sector in the late 1990s. Together they operate a network of 28,366 km, home to millions of tons of cargo per year. Its activitiesaim at the elaboration of studies and projects to support public policies for the sector to develop programs for increasing intermodal traffic and mutual interest spread and the importance of rail transport, promote exchange of information with similar bodies and to present, with educational institutions and research work on topics of common interest.

ANPTrilhos

The National Association of Rail Passengers Transporters (ANPTrilhos) is a civil association, nonprofit, nationwide, created to promote the development and improvement of passenger rail in Brazil.


Headquartered in Brasília (DF), the ANPTrilhos already represents 92% of allpassenger rail in Brazil, bringing together the five largest operators metro-ferroviárias the country. The industry in Brazil moves on rails currently about 7.7 million passengers daily, not counting those who ride on trains and cultural tourism.

Among the associated operators are ANPTrilhos Super Via, Metro Rio, Companhia do Metropolitano de São Paulo (Subway), Paulista Metropolitan Trains Company (CPTM) and the Metropolitan Company of the Federal District (DF subway). Also part of the association of equipment manufacturers such as Siemens, Alstom Brazil, Bombardier, MPE and the Spanish Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF), and otherassociations, such as the National Association of Rail Carriers (ANTF), the NationalRailway Industry Association (ABIFER) and Brazilian Association of Tourist Trains and Cultural Rights (ABOTTC).
